'Most irresponsible politics ever': Govt on Rahul's Kashmir remark

New Delhi: The Centre on Wednesday dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's tweet on Kashmir, saying that the "sudden U-turn has insulted the country by his irrespective utterances many times."

Union minister and senior BJP leader Prakash Javadekar emphasised the fact while addressing a press conference here that even Pakistan used Gandhi's statements on alleged violence in Jammu and Kashmir in its letter to United Nations, mentioning "much backlash from across the country."

"The Islamabad said and I quote "the acts of violence in Kashmir have been acknowledged by main stream politicians like Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, " Javadekar mentioned.

The ruling party left no stones unturned by claiming Congress of doing the "most irresponsible politics ever."

"Things are not wrong in Kashmir but in Congress. This statement shows the bankruptcy of the party that ruled the nation for 70 years. Never in the past statements of a political party were used against the country," the minister further asserted after showing the press people a short video clipping of Rahul Gandhi's statement.

The saffron quarter further rejected any reports of violence in the valley.

The political crossover emerges after the Congress leader tweeted "Kashmir is India's internal issue and there is no room for Pakistan or any other foreign country to interfere in it." The statement, however, came after media reports claimed that Pakistan had moved a petition in UN on Jammu and Kashmir mentioning his previous quote on the situation.

A delegation of opposition leaders was also not allowed to leave Srinagar airport over the weekend and sent back by the state administration.
