Madinah bus accident: High-level delegation set to visit Saudi

New Delhi: Two days after the tragic road accident near Madinah in Saudi Arabia claimed the lives of 42 Indian pilgrims, a high-level delegation led by Andhra Pradesh Governor Justice S Abdul Nazeer is to travel to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday. He will be accompanied by Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Secretary (CPV & OIA) of the External Affairs ministry.

According to the MEA, the delegation will be coordinating with Saudi authorities, and is also expected to attend the last rites of the deceased. “The aim is to render the fullest possible assistance and ensure all necessary support to the families,” an official statement by MEA said on Tuesday.

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah are working closely with local authorities to expedite the identification of the mortal remains.
