Irani holds meeting to improve organisational structure of IFFI

New Delhi: Aiming to bring in more revisions and improving the organisational structure for International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Smriti Irani held a meeting of Consultative Committee of the ministry on the eve of the last day of the Winter session, on Thursday.
Various steps and initiatives taken for the last IFFI by the ministry were specified by the minister.
Parliamentarians and members of the Consultative Committee of I&B Manoj Tiwari, Vivek Gupta, Dev Varma (Moon Moon Sen), Madhusudan Mistry, Sanjay Jaiswal attended the meeting along with Secretary in the ministry NK Sinha and other senior officials.
Sources said that the members also suggested the I&B minister to keep changing the venue of IIFI from Goa to other states in every year; however the official nod is awaited yet.
For IFFI, 2017 all committees were re-constituted. The steering committee and the preview committee were also expanded by more members from the film fraternity, sources said.
On the last International Film Festival of India in Goa Nine Master classes were organised, 197 films were screened and 493 delegates invited, the minister emphasized further.
She also avouched for representation of more regional films in the international platform, while the members appreciated the choice of films for 2017. They also proposed to organise socially inclined film festivals like 'Kisan film festival'.
For the first time IFFI officially collaborated with Toronto and Venice Film Festivals.
