New Delhi: After facing flak over non-seriousness of private schools in verifying credentials of their employees in Pradyuman case, the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry is mulling to introduce safety audits of schools through psychometric testing of all personals, including teachers, recruited by the schools through specially-trained auditors.
According to officials, the HRD ministry is examining a proposal received from Security Sector Skill Development Council (SSSDC), which has offered its expertise to the CBSE for carrying out safety audits.
The SSDC, a security training arm of the Ministry of Skill Development, has also suggested different ways to strengthen security and vigil in schools.
An HRD official said, "We have received the proposal from the SSSDC and examining as how the services of security auditors could be utilised in improving security standards in schools."
Talking to Millennium Post, SSSDC chairman Kunwar Vikram Singh said, "We have offered to help CBSE in managing security standards in all schools across India, which would enhance and strengthen their safety and security preparedness."
"When there would well-planned security arrangements in the schools, the horrific incident like the brutal killing of Pradyuman could not be repeated. We have offered the HRD Ministry to impart security training all the staff of schools. We have master trainers experienced in testing human behaviour," Singh said.
Singh further added that a two-day special teaching module for security auditors, where experienced security personnel, would be taught about specialised ways of dealing with safety and security of schoolchildren.
"Given that psychometric analysis is the best way to judge the mental stability of any person, the test prior to the appointment of the person would help in finding out the suitability of the employee for that particular role. Whether a driver or gardener is fit for the job or not, could be easily examined through the psychometric test," Singh said.
