The mountaineer enthusiast of Haryana Sunita Singh who displayed the placard 'Stop Early Marriage' from Mount Everest in 2011 has been selected for Nari Shakti Puraskar to be conferred on International Women's Day.
Singh, the brand ambassador for 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Programme' of Revari district carries the tag of being the youngest woman of the state to scale Mount Everest. Also, this time she is the only woman of Haryana amongst 33 throughout India who has been selected for the award. "In my campaign for BBBP and 'stop child marriage', I used to tour villages during social functions. The award will recognize my work besides providing a backing to my mission," said Sunita Singh to Millennium Post.
