Govt dismisses Scindia's claim on Sardar Sarovar oustees' rehabilitation

Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar dismissed Congress Lok Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia's claims about compensation not being given to people affected by the Sardar Sarovar project.
Scindia raised the matter during the Zero Hour and alleged the Madhya Pradesh government had failed to compensate the Sardar Sarovar Dam oustees.
He said, "The Supreme Court had asked the state government to rehabilitate them by July 31 but over 2.5 lakh people remained untouched by any official measure." "The chief minister should speak to these people."
Tomar, the Union Minister also hail from the state and accused the opposition Congress brass of trying to hamper the developmental project which, "would benefit people in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan," he said.
Adding further, the minister also said, "The Work on the project has been going on since the rule of Jawaharlal Nehru and the order of the apex court was followed to the last word."
Meanwhile, the issue was raked up and got highlighted by prominent activist Medha Patkar, with the cause of people affected by the project, however Tomar accused her of doing "politics".
