‘God not secure in Kerala’: Rajnath
Kochi/Thiruvananthapuram: Senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the ruling LDF in poll-bound Kerala, alleging that “God was not secure” in the state known as God’s own country, as the Left front betrayed Lord Ayyappa for a few pieces of gold -- a reference to the Sabarimala gold loss cases.
Singh, speaking at public meetings in Paravur and Nedumangad assembly constituencies as part of the BJP-led NDA’s poll campaign, said that “just like Judas betrayed Jesus Christ for a few pieces of silver, the LDF has betrayed Lord Ayyappa for a few pieces of gold”.
He contended that if this was the plight of God, the situation of the common people would be much worse and assured that there would be a time-bound CBI probe into the alleged misappropriation of gold from the shrine when the BJP-led NDA comes to power in Kerala.
He demanded that the Kerala government should explain how there was a lapse in safeguarding gold of the Sabarimala shrine and said that it amounted to betrayal of the religious beliefs of devotees which cannot be countenanced.
“Those who stole the gold from the doors of the Sabarimala shrine, will be shown the door by the people of Kerala,” he asserted.
