Education excursion group from Sikkim meets ITBP DG

New Delhi: Schoolchildren from Lachung, Sikkim met R K Pachnanda, DG ITBP at Force headquarters. The 19-member excursion group comprised of 9 girls, 10 boys, and 2 teachers. The 13-day tour from 18 to 30 December, 2017 has been organised by 48th Battalion of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) under Civic Action Programme (CAP). The group visited to various historical and important places in the Capital. The schoolchildren also visited Agra.
Pachnanda congratulated the group and wished them a bright future. The schoolchildren shared their experience about the tour on the occasion. The total number of such excursion tours has been increased since last year. ITBP has proposed 13 such tours in the current financial year under Ministry of Home Affairs sponsored Civic Action Program for the border population.
It is also proposed for the first time that apart from schoolchildren, elderly inhabitants including senior citizens of the border population will also be the part of future excursion tours by the Force. Arrangement by air travel for these tours has also been catered and for the first time, group of Ladakh schoolchildren arrived to the capital by Air. With such initiatives, the Force has been eying to organize more programs to win hearts and minds of the remote population and to provide them an opportunity to experience the rich social, cultural and historical heritage of the nation.
ITBP is deployed primarily on extreme terrains of the high altitude Himalayan frontiers and best known for professional mountaineering skills and duties at minus temperatures.
