Drive to install reflectors on sugarcane vehicles launched

New Delhi: In a bid to avoid the possibility of an accident due to poor visibility in case of dense fog, the Uttar Pradesh government has launched a campaign to install reflector on sugarcane transport vehicles at mill gate and cane purchasing centres.
Informing about the launch of the drive, Commissioner Cane & Sugar Sanjay R Bhoosreddy said, "Operation of sugar mills and purchase of sugarcane is done in winter which witnesses dense fog. It's been noticed that during the dense fog the visibility of vehicles is extremely low that increases the chances of an accident on the road."
"Regular traffic vehicles on the road generally have arrangement of reflectors or yellow light for improvement of their visibility, but in case of bullock cart, trolley, etc, used by sugarcane farmers for transporting the cane often have no reflector," Bhoosreddy said, adding that installing reflector strip on these vehicles would improve visibility and reduce possibilities of accidents.
Instructions have been issued to all deputy cane commissioners and district cane officers for installing reflector strips on 'accident vulnerable' vehicles.
