Doon's handloom expo a big hit

Dehradun: Aiming to create a market for Uttarakhand handloom products, the state government organised National Handloom Expo on Sunday. The expo turned out to be a mega hit as visitors from several parts of Dehradun and nearby areas visited the stalls.

At the National Handloom Expo, Uttarakhand High Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat was supervised by the fair officer, KC Chamoli, at 200 stalls engaged in the fair.

According to an official communiqué, the State High Education Minister and the Fair Officer talked to handloom weavers from 16 states. The minister visited the stalls of Uttarakhand Handloom and had a glimpse of products displayed at the stalls. The products such as Angura by Uttarakhand handlooms, sarees from Karnataka, Rajasthani quilts, first made wool products of Yak in Ladakh drew the attention of the minister and other officials.

At the expo, lady weavers from Laddakh told the minister that all the arrangements at the expo are well placed. "We have been to several expos, but never come across with such a well organised arrangements. We are very happy that our all products have been sold at Dehradun expo," weavers from Laddakh told the minister.

Dhan Singh Rawat congratulated the officials of Uttarakhand Handloom and Handicrafts Development Council, Directorate of Industries, Dehradun for organising such a beautiful expo for the people of Dehradun.
