DMK govt ‘failed’ to ensure public safety: Palaniswami

Dharmapuri (Tamil Nadu): AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday alleged that the DMK government has “failed” to ensure public safety, claiming that the government itself has admitted to the registration of approximately 18,000 POCSO cases in the state.

Addressing a massive rally in Dharmapuri, the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly substantiated his claims by referring to a statement made by P Geetha Jeevan, Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment on the floor of the Assembly.

He noted that the minister’s response not only confirmed the high volume of POCSO cases but also detailed the compensation provided to the victims, which Palaniswami argued was an “indictment of the deteriorating law and order situation” under Chief Minister M K Stalin.

The AIADMK chief also dismissed the “Dravidian Model” as a facade, asserting that Tamil Nadu leads only in debt accumulation.
