Demonetisation, GST ruined the country's economy: Hooda

Shimla: Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday claimed that demonetisation and the imposition of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) by the BJP government had "ruined" the country's economy.
"The people have understood the real motive and implication of demonetisation and the GST, and they will give a suitable reply to the BJP in the assembly polls," he said here, expanding the central tax to "Gayi Tumhari Sarkar".
Rejecting opinion polls on the Gujarat and the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections, he said that these are not reliable and claimed that the surveys seem to have been conducted before demonetisation and the GST's roll-out.
There was an understanding that the petroleum products would be brought under the GST and highest-tax slab would be 18 per cent, but the Modi government has betrayed the people, Hooda alleged during a programme in the poll-bound state.
"The policies of the government, demonetisation and the GST, had ruined the country's economy and the youth is restive as there has been massive job loss, post demonetisation," he said here.
