CRPF official dies due to Covid-19; cases cross 6,000-mark in CAPFs

New Delhi: A 36-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) official succumbed to the novel Coronavirus on Monday taking the total number of deaths in the country's largest paramilitary force to 13. More than 30 deaths have been reported from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs)

An official said that constable rank official, posted at 66th battlion of CRPF in Srinagar, was suffering from hypertension. He was admitted in Srinagar and died due to cardiac arrest around 5.30 pm on July 13. "He was tested positive for virus, "official said.

According to data in CRPF there were 2,229 cases in which 1,054 recovered and eight deaths were reported. There are 1,162 active cases.

In the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), there are around 403 active cases, 853 personnel have recovered from the virus and nine deaths have been reported. In Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) there are 344 active cases and 325 recoveries . Three deaths was also reported.

There are currently 1,004 active cases while 1,012 have recovered in Border Security Force (BSF). Eight jawans, affected by the virus, also died.

Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has 167 active cases, 147 recoveries and two deaths. As per data, 6,507 personnel were affected by virus in which 3,397 were recovered.
