‘Constitution is Bhagwad Gita of independent India’

Chandigarh: Union Energy Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that the Constitution is the ‘Bhagwad Gita’ of independent India.
Just like Gita is an appropriate guide to live a fuller life, in the same way, the Constitution is necessary to run the country and society, he said addressing the ‘Constitution Gaurav Samaroh’ as the chief guest on Sunday. “The Constitution is a book that respects every citizen, society, religion and sect. Constitution maker Dr BR Ambedkar has the biggest contribution to the construction and development of the country. But Congress always ignored his contribution and role and the (Narendra) Modi government gave him respect,” he said. The event, presided over by Maharishi Dayanand University V-C Dr Rajbir Singh, was organised by the Yuva Gaurav Utsav Samiti to mark the National Youth Day.
Khattar said: “Congress is pretending to respect the Constitution, but they did not give respect to the architect of the Constitution. The Modi government built memorials at places linked to Dr Ambedkar and bought the place where he studied in London to make it an international museum.”
