‘Congressmen must join hands with people in flood-affected areas’
Chandigarh: Congress Member of Parliament Deepender Hooda today participated in the ‘Hath Se Hath Jodo’ program organized at Nathusari Chowpata in Ellenabad constituency.
Despite the heavy rain and storm, a large number of people stood up to listen to Deepender, who remarked that he had seen many big rallies, but this was the first time he was seeing a standing rally.
“A storm is blowing in favour of the Congress in the entire state. The failure of Khattar government’s public dialogue and success of Hath Se Hath Jodo today in Ellenabad, is a symbol of change in Haryana.
Flood water has entered many villages in Sirsa too due to overflow of Ghaggar river. The situation is bad in entire Haryana due to floods.
The government neither strengthened the embankments, nor cleaned the drains, or took adequate steps to combat the floods in time. Due to this, now people are facing huge difficulties and losses due to floods,” he said as he visited several flood-affected villages and inquired about the condition of the people.
Deepender said on one hand the people are facing the brunt of water, and on the other hand, they are facing the brunt of inflation.
“Not only has the food on the plate become expensive, but even pulses and vegetables have disappeared from the food plate.
The prices of vegetables are sky high. No one was ready to buy tomato from the farmer even at Rs 2 per kg, but it is now being sold for Rs 200, at some places and beyond Rs 300,” he stated.
“Tomato sold for Rs 200 a kg is the same as the one that was bought from the farmer for Rs 2 a kg. All the things used daily in the kitchen of the common poor have become unaffordable due to inflation. Why is the government is not listening to the voice of the people who are in pain and distress about skyrocketing inflation,” he questioned.
Deepender blamed the wrong economic policies of the BJP government for sky-rocketing inflation.
“During the UPA government, when the gas cylinder cost Rs 350, the BJP leaders used to protest by keeping the cylinder on their head. Now, the price of the cylinder has crossed Rs 1100, but the BJP leaders are not even talking,” he stated.
“The people of Haryana are twice as unhappy with the BJP-JJP government today, as they were with the BJP in the five years from 2014 to 2019.
Today the young generation is facing highest unemployment rate in the Haryana.
