Cong manifesto for Hry polls: 33% quota for women in jobs
New Delhi: Aiming to get vote-share of every section during the assembly polls, Haryana Congress in its manifesto has promised all 'good things' for the people of the state if the grand old party comes to power.
As the party claims that it had waived off farm loans soon after the government formation in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, the similar decision would be taken in Haryana too if the party voted to power in the elections
for the state assembly on October 21.
In its manifesto, which was released on Friday, Haryana Congress has promised 33 per cent job quota for women in the government sector, free ride to women passengers in Haryana roadways, Rs 3,500 per month for pregnant women from the second trimester till the birth of the child and Rs 5,000 per month until the child attains 5 years of age, women-owned properties to get 50 per cent rebate in house tax, etc.
The Congress in its manifesto, which is christened as 'Sankalp Patra', has promised to appoint a rights maitri (adhikar maitri) in every panchayat to work for women empowerment, free education for girls till college and running of special buses to ensure their security, etc.
The manifesto was released in the presence of state party chief Kumari Selja, senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and MLA Kiran Choudhary.
Other focus areas in the manifesto are the promise to bring down electricity bills and counter pollution caused by stubble burning by providing machines to remove it from roots.
"We will make modern equipment available to farmers to ensure that no stubble remains. If there is stubble left on the fields, in order to avoid their burning, we will give compensation to farmers for each quintal of stubble. This will also ensure a pollution-free environment," the party's manifesto read.
"If vote to power, the party will reduce electricity rates to half and enhance the quality of power supply, the manifesto claims. Usage of upto 300 units per month will be free and the rate for above 300 mark will be halved," the manifesto read.
The manifesto also promises scholarships to students of the Dalit community. As per the manifesto, under the Dr BR Ambedkar Medhavi Chhatra Yojana, the students from Class 1 to Class 10 belonging to SC and extremely backward class will get Rs 12,000 annually, while students of Class 11 and 12 will get Rs 15,000.
"In every village, we will provide 1 acre to 1.5 acre of land title from panchayati/government land to landless Dalit families, based on availability," the party has promised in its manifesto.
The Congress has also promised to increase the creamy layer limit for backward sections from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. The party has also promised that unemployment allowance would be given until employment is secured. As per the manifesto, unemployed postgraduate degree holders will get Rs 10,000 per month and unemployed graduates will get Rs 7,000 per month.
In its manifesto, the party has also promised to ensure that GST-licensed businessmen and other professionals with an annual turnover of Rs 50 lakh will be provided with Rs 5 lakh insurance, while GST-licensed businessmen with an annual turnover of Rs 1 crore will be provided with Rs 10 lakh insurance, and similar insurance will be provided for higher turnovers.
On health front, the party has promised to provide health cards to every resident of the state along with free treatment to the poor.
