CM inaugurates work to lay sewer lines in Gopalpur village
NEW DELHI: Chief Minister and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) chairman Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday inaugurated work of providing and laying of sewer line in Gopalpur village under the Coronation Pillar waste water treatment plant (WWTP) catchment areas.
At this inauguration programme, Timarpur MLA Pankaj Pushkar, DJB CEO Anil Kumar Singh and other senior officers were present.
At present, sewer lines do not exist in unauthorised colonies of Timarpur's Golapur village, due to which the sanitation facilities in these colonies are poor. Sewage/waste water is being discharged into river Yamuna through various drains and nallahs, causing pollution in the water body.
Completion of the project will lead to improvement in the hygiene conditions of the 5,600 residents of Gopalpur village.
Sewerage of these colonies will directly flow to the existing sewage pumping station and necessary manholes will be constructed, which will help in abetment of pollution in Yamuna. The estimated cost of the project, expected to be complete in 11 months, is Rs. 2.3 crore.
