Cleric gets five yrs jail for attempting to rape minor

Muzaffarnagar: A local court has sentenced a cleric to five years imprisonment for abducting and attempting to rape a minor girl.

Additional District Sessions Judge Ram Sudh Singh on Thursday imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the accused after holding him guilty under Sections 363, 366 and 376/511 of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

The cleric abducted and attempted to rape the girl Sujru village in the district on September 27, 2016 .
