Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Baghel kick-starts 'Gandhi Vichaar Padyatra'
Raipur: While addressing a massive public gathering, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday announced that a college would be opened in Kandel in the name of Mahatma Gandhi, while Madamsilli Dam would be named after late Babu Chhotelal Shrivastav.
While kick-starting 'Gandhi Vichaar Padyatra' on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in Kandel, Baghel said that water would be released from dams for crops in summer. He also announced construction of a bridge in Kandel and naming of Government Higher Secondary School, Gopalpuri after freedom fighter Hazari Lal Jain.
The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister said that it was the result of Mahatma Gandhi's teachings and efforts that people got their rights.
"The Chhattisgarh government has also followed the paths shown by Gandhi and waived off farmer loans and provided maximum support price for paddy. Chhattisgarh farmers are getting Rs 2,500 per quintal MSP for paddy, which is highest in the country," he said, adding that wages for tendupatta collection
increased to Rs 4,000 per standard sack.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also unveiled statues of the Father of Nation and hero of Nahar Styagrah Babu Chhotelal Shrivastav.
