New Delhi: With an aim to creating employment opportunities in the field of security surveillance, Security Knowledge and Skill Development Centre (SSSDC) has started CCTV supervisor course for retired defence personnel.
The move is first of its kind in private security sector, which aims to scale up the effort and include retired personnel from all the three armed forces. The programme improves their employability.
According to a government official, the Directorate of General Resettlement (DGR) under Defence Ministry has roped in Lineage India Security and Safety Academy (LISSA) for imparting CCTV training. The 10-week long course started on Monday. An assessment and certification would be provided by SSSDC on the completion of the course.
On the initiative, SSSDC chairman Kunwar Vikram Singh, said, "CCTV is very important. Whenever there is a crime, CCTV footage is always checked and it would be a necessity in the future. While doing a CCTV course, one's mind should be analytical. One should understand people's gesture."
"The CCTV supervisor will play a role in crime prevention. We are skilling people at international standards and help them make their career abroad. There are 7 million security personnel working in the private security sectors, but still, there is a shortfall of 30 per cent. There is a scarcity of trained supervisors and proper system in India," Singh said.
"Retired defence personnel should change their mindset and try to adjust to civil lifestyle. There are huge opportunities in this sector, which would improve their social status.
In the coming days, 8,000-10,000 new training centres would be opened which would create job opportunities for them," Singh further added.
