CBI chargesheets two in NIOS exam scandal
New Delhi: The CBI has filed a chargesheet against two individuals in front of the Special CBI Judge in Bhopal, in connection with the National Institute of Open Schooling examination scandal, officials here said on Tuesday.
Ashish Massey, owner of a Delhi based polytechnic and Manoj Jyoti Borah, a junior assistant at NIOS Guwahati have been accused by the probe agency for forgery in attendance sheets and
answer sheets of students who were supposed to appear for 10th and 12th Standard examinations.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has alleged that a large number of students who did not appear for the examination in three centres in Madhya Pradesh or had failed the exam earlier were declared pass by NIOS.
The CBI has further alleged that the answer sheets of these students were received by the Regional Director's office of NIOS in Guwahati from the MP office, without the official NIOS logo.
The agency has accused both Massey and Borah of conspiring to get these students a pass certification in exchange for money that was deposited into Borah's account through a bank account in Delhi.
The CBI after registering an FIR had last year raided 26 locations across five states and Delhi that led to the recovery of documents incriminating Borah and Massey.
Both the accused were arrested recently and are currently in judicial custody.
