CBI calls Arnab Ghosh, Pallab Kanti Ghosh in connection with Saradha probe
Kolkata: Central Bureau of Investigation has urged IPS officer Arnab Ghosh to turn up at its office in connection with the Saradha probe. Former IPS officer Pallab Kanti Ghosh has also been called. Both of them have been asked to turn up at the CBI office at CGO complex in Salt Lake within this week.
According to CBI sources, previously both Arnab and Pallab were called by the CBI. Since they could not appear, the CBI has decided to summon both of them as per the section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
The CBI officers want to get their statements in this connection as they had probed the case at the initial stage. Arnab was one of the senior officers to probe the Saradha case while the cases were being investigated by Bidhannagar Police.
He was the then Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detective Department). After the cases were registered, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed
headed by Arnab.
Apart from Bidhannagar Police, Kolkata Police had also formed an SIT as there were several cases registered in the jurisdiction of the city police.
Pallab was the then Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) and also a member of the SIT.
Though the CBI called both Arnab and Pallab, none of them acknowledged about it. A few months back some of the investigating officers from the SIT of Bidhannagar Police were also called by the investigating agency.
