Blasts, fire at Jabalpur ordnance factory: Many hurt, scores still trapped
Several people were reportedly injured after a series of explosions took place at an ordnance factory in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday evening. Nearly 50 fire tenders were rushed to Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK) where some victims were still reported be trapped under parts of the structure that had caught fire. Those rescued were rushed to the nearby government hospital and Army personnel were leading the rescue operation. Meanwhile, access to the factory was restricted.
The Jabalpur Authority officials reached the spot and emergency services were put on alert as flames were visible from far away places in the district. At the time of going to Press, fire tenders were still fighting to douse the flames. Although there were no reports of any casualties so far, several people were said to be trapped inside the structure. Khamaria police said that the explosions occurred in the filling station of the ordnance factory, nearly 320 km east of Bhopal.
