Amid the last moment preparation for the seventh phase of the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections Minister of State for Telecommunication and Railways Manoj Sinha, and Lok Sabha MP from Gazipur who has been nurturing the Poorvanchal region since 2014 has stressed on BJP's likely victory in the state. In an exclusive interview to the Millennium Post in Gazipur, he said his party is going to win the election with 2/3 majority.
Q: After the six phases of the Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh, where does your party stand?
A: In the six phases, only BJP has got the winnable amount of votes. So, we believe in the last phase people of UP will lead us towards 2/3 majority.
Q: What is the strategy that makes your party brass confident of the win?
A: The eastern part of Uttar Pradesh has always been backward and ignored. But during 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the people of Poorvanchal had voted for PM Modi and got the essence of development. Earlier, the centre's schemes used to be limited to Amethi and Raibareli. But now the present government has come up with AIIMS in this region. The government has sanctioned rail projects of Rs 32,000 crore for Poorvanchal.
Highways projects of Rs 83,000 crore have also been sanctioned by the centre. Especially, the Ujjwala scheme was first implemented in Balia. So, now one should understand that this region has voted for BJP in the earlier phases and will vote for the party in the last phase, too. This time also they will vote for the 'development'.
Q: Is your party in a tough spot position this time?
A: BJP was never in a tough spot as we are confident about our secured votes. People are aware of the state's law and order situation. Land encroachment, murder of SP, Deputy SP, reports of bribes being taken by government officials, recruitment scams have always been reported in media. Mulayam Singh Yadav recruited Subedars in every zilla, but his educated sons recruited numberdar in every police station. So, the fate of SP, Congress and BSP will be decided by the people.
Q: So, The entire cabinet and the party president are campaigning here. Does it show BJP's insecurity amid secured votes?
A: First of all, the cabinet ministers are campaigning in various parts of eastern UP and Varanasi is the centre point. Moreover, Union Ministers are also BJP leaders. So it is quite usual that they will campaign for the party. There is no 'insecurity' in BJP as it works for development.
Q: During the ticket distribution, many party leaders rebelled against tickets being given to outsiders. Has it become a big challenge for the party?
A: BJP believes in equality and tried to distribute party tickets accordingly. With the time, people from all sections of society have started claiming their stakes and we have tried to maintain it. Their response also shows BJP's organisational strength. We are also happy that leaders from other parties want to join the development brigade and want to hold BJP's hand and it is an achievement I believe.
Q: There is a strong speculation over your Chief Ministerial candidature, if BJP wins and forms the government. How do you respond to the buzz floating around?
A: First of all, let me clarify that 'I am not in any race'. I have been given couple of responsibilities by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which I would like to continue doing. But if my party wants me to take other responsibilities, I will answer to my party president Amit Shah.
