BJP to seek views of 10 crore people on poll manifesto

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched 'Bharat Ke Mann Ki Beat'- a mega drive to seek suggestions from 10 crore people across the nation. The shortlisted suggestions will be included in the party's election manifesto.

BJP national president Amit Shah and Union Home Minister and also election manifesto team's chairperson Rajnath Singh launched the programme here on Sunday.

Singh called the mega drive 'historic' and said this nationwide exercise is the first of its kind by any party, which will involve the general public in deciding the framework of the "New India" they want. Twelve teams have been formed, which will be led by senior party leaders in 7500 places across 4000 assembly constituencies.

Further 300 vehicles (raths) will move in different places with suggestion boxes. People will submit their suggestions in the drop boxes along with their names and pin codes.

"Till 30 years there was a government of appeasement. Winning elections used to be the only purpose for them. But in 2014, people's mandate made BJP the single largest party and which is a non- Congress party," Shah said.

"BJP is a democratic party and believes in the individual democracy. Election is the medium to serve people, not of power," Shah further added. The BJP sought the first suggestion under the outreach campaign from a waiter of the hotel where the event was organised.

Seven programmes will be conducted during the mega drive. A team of analytics will finalize the list and will submit to Rajnath Singh.

Farmers and agriculture, youth and sports, women empowerment, inclusive development, economy, health, education, national security, foreign policy are among the topics on which the party will seek suggestions. Besides, people can also register on www.bharatkemaankibaat.com or can call on 6357171717 or can WhatsApp their suggestions. Senior ministers Harsh Vardhan, Jaitley, Irani, Thawar Chand Gehlot and other senior party leaders will head different groups of this programme.
