BJP CEC meet begins, final candidate list for 1st phase of Gujarat Elections likely soon

New Delhi: The Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) started here at the party headquarters, where all CEC members –including Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, former CM of the state Anandiben Patel and other senior party leaders are also present in the meeting – led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah.
Sources said, CEC may give a nod to final candidates' names for the first phase of Gujarat Assembly polls after the meeting through the Standard Operating Procedure.
Since the end of October the BJP chief had been conducting rigorous brainstorming sessions to discuss over the names of probable aspirants with all in charges and booth palaks of respective 182 constituencies.
From October 21 to 26 and from November 4 to 10 Amit Shah was in his Paravas in the state. As the saffron party seeks its fifth term in the power of the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah, the first preference in a candidate would be "win ability", sources said.
he two phased Assembly Elections of Gujarat are scheduled on December 9 and 14 and the results will be announced along with that of Himachal Pradesh on December 18. The first phase of the polls in Gujarat will cover 89 constituencies in 19 districts while the second phase will cover 93 constituencies spread across 14 districts.
