BJP appoints in-charges for poll-bound states
New Delhi: Even as Congress is yet to zero in on a new President post Lok Sabha poll drubbing, ruling BJP is getting prepared for the next round of assembly polls as it announced in-charges and co-incharges on Friday for the poll-bound states.
Assembly elections in three states – Jharkhand, Haryana and Maharashtra are due later this year, whereas, the assembly elections in Delhi is scheduled in early 2020.
The party has appointed Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar as the election in-charge for Delhi, Civil Aviation minister (I/C) Hardeep Singh Puri and MoS Home Nityanand Rai as his deputies.
For Haryana, the party high command has appointed agricultural minister Narendra Singh Tomar as the election in-charge and Uttar Pradesh minister Bhupendra Singh as his deputy. Whereas, the party's general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Bhupendra Yadav is the new election in-charge of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and former Karnataka MLA Laxman Savadi are the co-in-charges.
BJP national vice-president OP Mathur has been announced as the new election in-charge for Jharkhand and minister in Bihar Nanda Kishore Yadav will be his deputy. The new appointments were declared in a communiqué by Bharatiya Janata Party's national president Amit Shah.
