Bengal Congress chief meets PM

West Bengal Pradesh Congress president Adir Ranjan Choudhury had a one to one meeting with the PM Narendra Modi on Friday in the afternoon. Prime Minister gave him a patient hearing for the first time in a day when TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee was holding annual Martyrs' Day rally in Kolkata.
At the national level, Congress high command has tried to reach out to West Bengal Chief Minister on all major national political issues. But the state unit is going in opposite direction.
In fact, in the Parliament on several occasion, Congress party leaders raised the issue of Union government's intervention into the affairs of the state. On Friday, PCC president demanded Centre's intervention in West Bengal. He complained that West Bengal, especially in districts of Darjeeling, State Government has failed to maintain law and order situation. He demanded that central government should immediately intervene in the state of Bengal.
