Barrackpore: Youth shot, cops suspect ‘rivalry over personal issues’

Kolkata: A youth was shot from close range on Wednesday afternoon near Chiria More, Barrackpore in the Pipe Road area.

The injured youth was rushed to BN Bose Sub-divisional Hospital from where he was shifted to a private hospital in the city.

According to sources, on Wednesday around 2:45 pm, residents of Pipe Road heard a gunshot from inside an abandoned electricity supply office.

After a while, people saw a youth identified as Md. Imdad coming out of the abandoned office with a bullet injury on his chest.

Immediately he was rushed to the BN Bose Sub-divisional Hospital. After a while, he was shifted to a private hospital in Kolkata for better treatment.

Meanwhile, police rushed to the spot and started a probe. Senior police officers of the Barrackpore Commissionerate also went to the spot. Near the place where the shootout had taken place, the office of a senior police officer is located.

Moreover, the office of the Commissioner of Police (CP), Barrackpore is also near the spot of the incident.

Cops suspect that the shootout is an outcome of some sort of rivalry over personal issues. Police are waiting for Imdad to get stable as he can divulge many facts.
