Bangladeshi vessels held by ICG for trespassing

New Delhi: In a significant operation reinforcing maritime security, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) apprehended two Bangladeshi fishing trawlers with 78 fishermen onboard for unauthorised fishing activities within the Indian
waters on Monday.
The operation was carried out by the ICG ship Amogh, which was on routine patrol near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). During its vigil, the ICG crew identified suspicious activity and intercepted the two Bangladeshi trawlers. The vessels, identified as FV Laila-2 and FV Meghna-5, were registered in Bangladesh and carried 41 and 37 crew members, respectively.
The vessels and their crew were booked under the Maritime Zones of India Act, 1981.
