Baldi to head RERA, Khachi in race for CS
Dharamshala: Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Srikant Baldi, has been appointed as Chairman of Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) – a statutory body aimed to protect the interests of home buyers and boost investments in the real estate sector.
Baldi, a 1985-batch IAS officer was appointed Chief Secretary in September 2019 and was scheduled to retire from the post in December 2019. His term as RERA chairman will be for five years.
A high-level committee headed by Himachal Pradesh Chief Justice L. Narayana Swamy, last week cleared two names for appointment as Chairman of RERA. Besides Baldi, the other name in the panel was of PC Dhiman, a retired IAS officer.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Tuesday picked-up Baldi's name for the post.
A formal notification is likely to be issued shortly by the government, a senior official told Millennium Post.
Beside him, two other members of the body will be B .C Badalia, retired IAS and R K Verma, a retired Chief architect, said an official.
With Baldi likely to move out of the RERA, the next senior-most IAS officer in the state Anil Khachi, a 1986-batch IAS officer is likely to be tipped for the Chief Secretary 's post.
Khachi had returned from the central government deputation last month.
