A&N police pays homage to martyrs in Delhi

New Delhi: A 'Shok Parade' was organized by Andaman and Nicobar Police on Friday at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi.

Dependra Pathak, Director General of Police, Andaman and Nicobar Islands paid tribute to police martyrs by laying a wreath on the central monolith. The gathering also observed a two-minute silence in memory of the brave hearts. The family of martyr SI Sanjeev of the Andaman and Nicobar Police was also honoured during the tribute function.

Sub-inspector (SI) Sanjeev had laid down his life trying to protect citizens caught in the rising waters of the Tsunami of 2004.

He managed to save three lives and drowned during his fourth rescue. He was awarded the Kirti Chakra posthumously for his act of Valor.

IGP Law and Order, Madhup Tiwari, IPS and other senior officers of Andaman and Nicobar Police were also present on the occasion. The National Police Memorial was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year.
