Amit Shah inaugurates Rs 241 crore development projects in Gujarat
MANSA, GUJARAT: Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for a series of development projects worth Rs 241 crore in Mansa, Gujarat. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel of Gujarat and other dignitaries were present during the event.
In his speech, Amit Shah mentioned how Narendra Modi transformed the state’s water scarcity problem as Chief Minister of Gujarat. Shah remembered how Narendra Modi made groundwater available at a much shallower depth of 1,200 feet due to the commitment he made to complete the Narmada project.
He credited Modi’s leadership with raising the water table across Gujarat, including in Kutch and Saurashtra, and ensuring Narmada water reached every household in the state. Shah also noted Modi’s achievements in constructing a canal from Bharuch to Khavda and filling over 9,000 ponds to conserve rainwater and provide water to villages in Saurashtra.
Shah also appreciated other measures taken by Modi, like the Sujalam-Sufalam Yojana, which ensured water supply from Kadana to Deesa; the transferring of Narmada water into thousands of ponds; and the construction of 14 dams along the Sabarmati River.
He underlined that all these measures raised groundwater levels and ensured safe, fluoride-free drinking water, thereby largely improving lives in North Gujarat.
During the event, Shah also referred to the recent renovation of the 500-year-old Maha Kali Mata temple in Ambod, which was done under the ‘Pavitra Yatradham’ scheme. He suggested further development of the site by increasing the newly constructed barrage and developing boating and walking facilities.
Shah envisioned the temple as a peaceful pilgrimage centre with a beautiful backdrop for visitors.
Amit Shah inaugurated Mansa Circuit House, along with a protection wall close to Neelkanth Mahadev, a check dam in the Badarpura village, and class blocks in Charada and Delwada Villages.
The foundation stone for 23 other projects has also been laid, including one on the Sabarmati River in Ambod village. Shah said that all these projects would benefit the local farmers and children and strengthen the region’s development.
