Amethi village to go digital from today
New Delhi: Pindara Thakur village under coveted Amethi parliamentary constituency of Congress president Rahul Gandhi in UP would go fully digital from Saturday (September 1), having access to 206 government services at the click of a mouse, thanks to Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani.
Located in Musafirkhana tehsil of the district, the village would go digital under the Digital India Programme of the Union government.
The village would be linked with Wi-Fi Chaupal and may use 2 GB free data for initial 15 days. Later, this service would be provided to them at cheaper rates, officials mentioned.
Irani has been a frequent visitor in the constituency of the Congress president since 2014. Meanwhile, other ministers and party leaders also congratulated her. Power minister RK Sinha tweeted, "An illuminating piece by Smt. Smriti Irani on how women have become the fulcrum of administrative initiatives in four and a half years of the PM Narendra Modi Government."
Shiromani Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa tweeted, "I have already predicted - Rahul Gandhi will lose 2019 Lok Sabha election. His Gandhi surname will pale in front of the work done by Smriti Irani Ji for Amethi and its people.Many congrats Smriti Ji for accomplishing yet another task in Amethi." BJP Lok Sabha MP from Delhi (West) Parvesh Sahib Singh also mentioned that Irani has taken Amethi out of dark ages.
Irani will also inaugurate the 'Digital India Banking Service' at the head post office of Amethi to boost the payment services in post offices. She had fought the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Amethi but had lost to Gandhi by over 1 lakh votes.
