Advocacy is not just profession, but also a public service: Hry CM
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said advocacy is not just a profession but a public service.
Lawyers can bring positive change in society by contributing to the judicial system of the country and the field of advocacy is not limited to the knowledge of law, rather lawyers play their role in providing justice to the weaker and deprived sections of society, Saini said addressing the oath-taking ceremony of new lawyers organised by the Punjab and Haryana Bar Council at Law Bhawan in Chandigarh on Sunday. The Chief Minister on the occasion administered the oath to 1145 new lawyers and gave them licences.
Saini said it is the result of the nationalist vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that independent India has “got freedom from three laws of slavery after seven decades”.
He urged all the new lawyers to contribute to making the general public aware about the new laws. Apart from making three new criminal laws, PM Modi has abolished about 1600 laws. 175 “unnecessary” laws have also been identified in Haryana, he said.
