56 kg of poppy seized in JK; 2 arrested

Jammu: Two persons were arrested and 56 kg of poppy was seized in separate incidents in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said today.

A police party intercepted a truck on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway and found 46 kg of the contraband inside the vehicle, they said.

The truck driver managed to escape from the spot, the police said.

In another incident, a truck was intercepted in Chenani area and 10 kgs of poppy was seized upon searching the vehicle.

Its driver Talib Hussain and conductor Sonu were arrested, the police said./FIRs have been registered in both the cases, they added.
