4th International Day of Yoga held in Bangladesh

New Delhi: India's high commission to Bangladesh celebrated the 4th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on Thursday with around 10,000 people practicing the ancient Indian disciplines at Bangabandhu stadium in Dhaka.

Bangladesh Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Qader graced the event and Minister for youth and sorts Biren Sikder was participated as guest of honour. Also present were Deputy minister of youth and sports Arif Khan and Indian high commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla.

The celebrations of IDY commenced with the screening of a video message of the Prime Minister of India. Bangladesh president Md. Abdul Hamid sent a message on the occasion. Sports associations, Yoga associations and Institutes, students from various schools, intellectually challenged children, colleges and universities in Dhaka and outside Dhaka, Bangladesh Scouts participated in the celebrations of IDY. Several celebrities from culture, sports and media also participated in the event.

Mumpy Dey, Teacher of Indian Culture at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) conducted the Common Yoga Protocol. Demonstration of yoga asanas were also performed by yoga students of IGCC and other yoga institutes in Dhaka.
