‘Nation pessimistic due to lack of political will’

Leaving no chance to attack the central government, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, on  Thursday said that  the country was in the grip of pessimism because of lack of political will of the government.

‘There is a policy paralysis, intellectual bankruptcy and lack of leadership in the country because of which the country was experiencing stagnancy, we are going on the path of negative growth,’ said  Modi s at the  NDC meeting in the capital.

The Gujarat chief minister while taking a dig at the lower growth projections,  said it was unfortunate that the government of India has given growth projections of 8.2 per cent now, against 7.9 per cent achieved last year. ‘The whole nation has been called together only for taking the nation 0.3 per cent forward,’ said Modi sarcastically.

Modi added that when the entire world was looking at India in the context of development, there is sense of pessimism from the ones who are leading the nation making it difficult to move forward.’It seems that there is no urgency or seriousness in tackling economic crises facing the country, there has been a virtual lack of direction in the macro-economic management of the country,’ said Modi.

‘If the Centre can blame the international situation, who should the states point out to,’ said Modi while referring to the high growth rate in some states including Gujarat.
