Naqvi dubs intolerance a political joke, Naidu pulls up party leaders

In scathing attack against the Congress, MoS for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) was very tolerant in discussing the ‘fabricated propaganda of intolerance’ in the Parliament.

“We are even tolerant on the fabricated propaganda of intolerance and that is why we openly participated and discussed the issue,” Naqvi said.

Addressing media after the BJP parliamentary party meeting, Naqvi dubbed the issue of intolerance as a political joke (siyasi shagufa), and added that his party was still concerned and ready to discuss that joke.

Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu also attended the meeting.

Cautioning party leaders to not fall prey to the tactics of the Congress, Naidu said, “Be alert about the game plan of the Opposition. Do not get provoked and fall prey to their tactics and expose the disinformation campaign.”

Hitting out at the Opposition for creating an illusion of intolerance in the country, Naqvi said the BJP is satisfied that the wrongly portrayed issue of intolerance in the country is now being understood. “All those people who wanted to create an environment of illusion, their masks are now being uncovered,” he said, adding that the Bihar poll results were also discussed in the meeting.

“Venkaiah Naidu ji also advised all members to be careful with the use of words and to stay steer clear of controversies,” he added.
