Nanao in pre-quarters of Boxing nationals

2009 Asian c’ship gold medallist Nanao Singh of Services and CWG bronze winner Amandeep Singh of Railways reached the pre-quarterfinals of the 59th Sahara men’s national boxing championship on Wednesday. In light-fly weight division, Amandeep and Nanao set the ring on fire with lightening fast moves and notched up similar victories with the referee stopping the contest on both occasions. Amandeep needed less than a round to beat Mohd Khaja Hussain of Tamil Nadu while V Zosangpuia of Mizoram suffered a similar fate against Nanao who won with consummate ease. In another bout, Meghalaya’s Sangkar Thapa beat K Sagar of Andra Pradesh. In fly weight division, Gaurav Bidhuri of Delhi defeated Sunil Kumar of Railways 12-8.
