While the police have recovered two suicide notes, but it suspect the husband would have killed his wife first before ending his own life. However, the police have not yet arrived at any conclusion and are investigating the matter from other angle also. Meanwhile, the police have sent the bodies for postmortem examination and have informed their family members in Kashmir.
According to police, the incident was reported late night on Monday when the landlord, Narayan, informed that Rohit Vataal (47) and his wife Rashmi (43) are laying unconscious in a pool of blood at their room on third floor. When police reached the flat, it was found that Rohit’s vein was cut while Rashmi’s throat was slit with a sharp weapon. The landlord informed police that she went to their room after they failed to respond to her repeated calls. ‘I was trying to call them since evening. But none of them picked up. When I went to their room I found them lying unconscious and called up police,’ said Narayan. Police also suspect the couple was not having a child for a very long time, which might be the reason behind the extreme step.
‘The couple in their suicide notes have said that nobody should be held responsible for their death and they are committing suicide with mutual consent’, said a police officer quoting their suicide note.
He further informed that the hand writing on both the notes are same. ‘We have sent the notes forensic examination and things could be ascertained only after the report,’ said Yogesh Singh, Superintendent of Police (City) of Noida.
The police said that Rohit, who was working as an executive in a private company, had three sisters and one of his sister lives in Delhi. On Tuesday, his Delhi-based sister informed police that the couple was upset because they did not have any child.
