My book will tell the truth: Sonia Gandhi

She said her book will give her side of the story. Gandhi said she is not hurt by Natwar Singh’s utterances in an interview she gave to a news channel.

Natwar, in his forthcoming book, is reported to have claimed that Rahul Gandhi stopped Sonia from becoming prime minister in 2004 fearing she might be killed like former prime ministers Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi. In interviews to promote his new book, Natwar Singh, 83, has challenged Gandhi’s famous declaration that her ‘inner voice’ kept her from accepting the post of prime minister after the coalition led by her party won the 2004 national election.

Congress party leaders have also criticised the claims made by Singh with former prime minister Manmohan Singh rubbishing the charge that government files were shown to Sonia when UPA was in power.

Singh is believed to have said in his book that principal secretary to prime minister Pulok Chatterjee carried files to Sonia. Natwar Singh had to resign from the Congress-led coalition government in 2005 after allegations of corruption.
