Mutilated bodies of couple stuffed in 2 trunks, honour killing suspected

According to media reports, the dead bodies, which were hidden in two steel trunks, were found in Devilal Park near National Highway-1 in Bahalgarh village of the district. The couple’s bodies, kept inside the trunks, were first spotted by the locals who then reported the matter to the police.
The Sonepat police, which is now investigating the case, said that the couple could not be identified as both the bodies were badly mutilated. Meanwhile, SHO Murthal thana, Ajay Kumar, said, “We got the information at around 9:30 am and found two boxes with the bodies of a boy and a girl. First we need to identify them, then only we can conclude something.” He further added, “The legs of the boy were cut down. Initially this looks like strangulation, but investigation is on.”
The bodies have, meanwhile, been sent for post-mortem. According to some eye-witnesses, the
youth’s feet had been severed from his body. The girl was wearing bangles, traditionally worn by newlyweds, indicating that the two were a couple, and there were signs of strangulation on the girl’s body.
Though the officials are looking at it as a suspected case of honour killing, they are also probing if the two were murdered somewhere else and their bodies were dumped in the Devilal Park later.
