Mussoorie all set to go Wi-Fi, says CM Rawat

Chief Minister Harish Rawat on the occasion of Uttarakhand Martyrdom Day on Wednesday inaugurated Geonet Wi-Fi facility here. While launching the facility, Rawat remarked, “Mussoorie has entered into a digital era. Uttarakhand will be developed as <g data-gr-id="24">smart</g> state. The Wi-Fi facility will be introduced in other towns and cities also.”

According to government officials, the facility as of now would be available on the hill station’s legendary Mall Road, which is the biggest tourist attraction. Some of the most famous hotels and shopping plazas of the small town are also located on the Mall which stretches from Picture Palace in the east to the Library Point at its western end. During the British Raj, signs on the Mall expressly stated: Indians and Dogs Not Allowed.

“Today Mussoorie Mall Road by getting the Wi-Fi system has become a symbol of free access to one and all,” said a government official. “Mussoorie is tourist hub and we are working to make it more appealing. But we need the participation of every denizen of this hill state.”
