Music for a cause

With the objective of distressing inmates lodged in Central jail No.5, Tihar, a mega classical music show Morning Raga was organised in association with the Legends of India, a nonprofit organisation promoting Indian Arts and Culture on May 3. 

Sitar Maestro Pandit Subhendra Rao (disciple of Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravishankar ji) and Vidhushi Saskia Rao, cello player (disciple of Pandit Hari Prasad <g data-gr-id="19">Chaursia</g>) played various Ragas and touched the hearts of the inmates. The sounds of ragas created an atmosphere of peace, love and harmony among the inmates. 

Bhajans  like Vaishnav Jana and Raghupati Raghav Raja were played during the event. Alok Kumar Verma, Director General (Prisons) asked the prisoners to utilise their time in creative activities (educational and vocational skills) and to learn the basic life skills to prepare themselves to serve the nation after their release <g data-gr-id="20">form</g> the jail. 

V S Rawat, DIG (<g data-gr-id="21">Mandoli</g> Prisons), Radha Charan, Superintendent Jail, Sanjay Ambasta, Dy Superintendent Jails and Dipayan Majumdar, Director, Legend of India Organization were also present during the occasion. Majumdar informed that Legend of India will be soon starting a Visual Arts training <g data-gr-id="22">programe</g> for the inmates under the reformation and rehabilitation drive in Tihar Jails.
