Murder most foul: Woman stabs son to death, kills another woman

A three-and-a-half-year-old boy, the son of a librarian with an English-language newspaper, was on Thursday stabbed to death, while the man’s wife and daughter were critically injured in the incident, police said. 

According to the police, Sudesh, wife of librarian Anil Sharma, called over Reena Taneja, wife of a builder named Manoj, to her residence in the west Moti Nagar area to clarify a ‘few misunderstandings’. But when Reena reached the spot, Sudesh allegedly stabbed her. She then went ahead and stabbed her son Arav and daughter 16-year-old daughter Komal. 

‘The argument apparently happened over allegations of an extra-marital affair. Manoj had an affair with Sudesh and she called Reena to talk about the matter,’ an investigating officer said.

‘The argument soon turned violent and Sudesh stabbed Reena, her son Arav and 16-year-old Komal, who had just returned from school,’ the officer said.

The police have recovered a note allegedly written by Sudesh which blames Manoj for the entire episode and says that Arav was actually Manoj’s son.

According to librarian Anil, however, a heated argument took place between his wife Sudesh, who works as a nurse, and Reena. Anil has told the police that Reena reportedly took a friendly entry into the house and shut the door from inside, after which she killed Arav while Sudesh killed Reena in self-defence. 

Sudesh and Komal screamed for help and some neighbours rushed to Sudesh’s house after hearing the screams. 

A police reached the spot and found two bodies in a pool of blood. The injured persons were rushed to the hospital and the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination. 

Both Sudesh and Komal are stated to be critical.
