The wife of a retired railway officer was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Monday morning at her house in Ghaziabad. Police has ruled out robbery as motive behind the murder as nothing of value was found to be missing from the house.
'There is no sign of forced entry and all valuables, including mobile phones, cash and jewellery, were found intact. There was no sign of any fight either,' said Shiv Shankar Yadav, S P City, Ghaziabad.
Police is yet to identify the motive behind the murder. 'We can't say anything at this point of time, but it seems like an insider was involved in the crime,' added Yadav. The deceased has been identified as Nirmala (59) wife of Ashutosh Manju (62), who retired as general manager of Indian Railway from Mumbai.
According to the police, the domestic help saw the couple talking at 8.12 am when things seemed normal. 'She went to the third floor of the house to clean the rooms there and when she came down at 8.30 am, she found Nimala lying dead on the bed,'said Haridayal Yadav, investigating officer of the case.
The domestic help alerted the neighbours, who in turn informed the police. Manju was reportedly out of the house at the time of incident and came back only after police reached the spot. 'We are waiting for the post-mortem report,’ the official added. Manju had recently shifted from Delhi to sector 12 in Pratap Vihar area of Ghaziabad in Vijay Nagar police station area. He has joined MTNL as consultant after retirement.
