Now the Mundka-Bahadurgarh Metro corridor will run along National Highway 10, which is on the Rohtak Road, on elevated overpass. The 11.181 km long corridor between Mundka and Bahadurgarh will be entirely elevated, with four stations in Delhi and three in Haryana respectively.
It will be an extension of the presently operational Inderlok-Mundka corridor Line 5 and will run on standard gauge. The civil construction work of this corridor is expected to start by July and the project is expected to get completed by March 2016. The approximate cost involved will be Rs 1,991 crore.
Union Minister for Urban Development, Kamal Nath, and Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Metro corridor between Mundka and Bahadurgarh on Sunday.
The maximum length of the trains on this corridor will be of six coaches. The expected daily ridership by the year 2016 will be 1,42,527, which is expected to reach up to 1,97,160 by 2021. This new route will help in reducing the travelling time for commuters.
It will take just 20 minutes to reach Mundka from Bahadurgarh. Further, the travel time from Bahadurgarh to Inderlok will be 45 Minutes while a journey from Bahadurgarh to Kirti nagar will take 50 minutes.
The seven Metro stations on this corridor will be Mundka industrial Area, Ghevra, Tikri Kalan, Tikri Border in Delhi, and Modern Industrial Estate, Bus Stand and City Park in Haryana.
The areas which will be benefited by this corridor are Mundka, Ghevra, Tikri Kalan in Delhi and parts of Bahadurgarh in the Jhajjar district of Haryana. Mangu Singh, DMRC’s Managing Director and other higher officials of Delhi Metro were also present on the occasion.
AIRPORT METRO TRAINS TO RUN ON HIGHER SPEED
new delhi: The swanky Airport Metro Express Line (AMEL) in the capital will soon run at high speeds again, a Delhi Metro official said on Sunday.
The Metro line, which started in February 2011, was shut for nearly six months on grounds of safety. The 22.7-km corridor started operations in January at speeds of 30-35 kmph and gradually increased it to 60 kmph.
‘Currently the AMEL is running at 60 kmph. Delhi Metro is conducting inspections of the corridor. If everything goes well, the speed of trains would be increased to 70 kmph initially and to 80 kmph in a phased manner,’ a Delhi Metro official said.
Before the service’s suspension, the trains were running at a speed of 105 kmph. The Delhi Airport Metro Line is a joint venture between Delhi Metro and Reliance Infra. Operations on the Airport Metro Line were suspended July 8 after some faults were detected in the civil structure of the line.
The Airport Metro, with six stations, ferries over 15,000 people daily. It has ferried 68 lakh passengers in over 70,000 trips in 15 months.
