Mumbai rape accused gets judicial custody

A Mumbai magistrate Wednesday sent Mohammed Anwar Ansari, accused of raping a Spanish woman, to judicial custody till 9 November, police said.
The police had Tuesday arrested Ansari for allegedly sexually assaulting the 27-year-old Spanish national in her rented apartment in Mumbai.
Mohammed Anwar Ansari alias Badshah has been remanded to judicial custody till Nov 9 by the magistrate court, Assistant Commissioner of Police S. Marathe said.
Police said the accused raped and robbed the 27-year-old musician early Monday. Ansari was detained the same night for questioning.
Ansari had allegedly threatened the woman with a knife, raped her twice after which he forced her to have a bath and wiped his fingerprints from the crime scene before fleeing with cash, police said.
