'Mumbai jaake kisi se role mangunga nahin'

Good things come to people who wait? Believe it, for Delhi boy Imran Zahid is proving this point to the T. While the actor waits for the second schedule of Jism 2, he is preparing for his role in upcoming film Marksheet. And that's not all, what the he is actually waiting for is the biopic on slain JNU leader Chandrashekar Prasad, to be directed by Mahesh Bhatt.

The project was kept on hold because of the impending court verdict and the serious opposition from the university that Bhatt could possibly not do justice to the character of Prasad.

A theater actor by heart – Imran likes being away from the Mumbai rush. I won't beg anyone for roles, says the confident actor who has always done things his away.

Imran has been the star of Bhatt's theater production The Last Salute where he portrayed the role of Muntadhar Al Zaidi — the Iraqi journalist who made news when he hurled his shoe at Bush. Imran is currently working with the Jism 2 crew for his role of a Delhi-based narcotics sleuth. The actor is all praise for Randeep Hooda and Sunny Leone. Imran says he got a lot of help on the sets and working with the Bhatts is like working with family.

However the next big thing for Imran is Marksheet. Directed by Rakesh Ranjan Kumar, Marksheet is based on the story of Ranjit Don, a timid village schoolboy who went on to become the man almost wiping out the reliability of India's management studies institutions. The Pakistani band Raeth makes their debut with Marksheet.

So be it Ranjit Don, Chandrashekar or Al Zaidi, Imran has a soft spot for the common man's hero. While Chandrashekhar's role took him to the revolutionary's hometown — Siwan, to prepare for Ranjit Don, Imran took on Delhi University. After all — the actor is only as good and as real as the roles he plays.

As he talks about meeting his mentor Mahesh Bhatt in Dubai for the first time for a media workshop in 2007, Imran knows that his life has been nothing less than a movie.
